Description:
This role focuses on driving the functional strategy and capability excellence portfolio for a specific functional area of the GP organization. This role will also act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for core procurement processes and serve as an advisor to all Business and Category Leaders involved in Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, and Supplier Management efforts. This individual is accountable for coaching team leaders in the day-to-day activities needed to successful execute processes in a consistent, efficient, and effective manner. Additionally, this role acts as the chief-of-staff to the head of a functional group.
Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Lead and/or support major strategic programs within a multi-year plan including end-2-end process optimization, make/buy analysis and recommendations within a large group of spend categories and/or within a major business area
Manage the capability excellence portfolio for the sub-functional area, in order to ensure appropriate prioritization and value opportunities are realized
Ensure highest standards of excellence across key capabilities
Conduct Reviews of Supply Plans, Category Strategies & Roadmaps as well as plans for Contract to Pay enablement
Provide a value chain perspective across the entire functional portfolio
Oversee the development of annual strategic category management plans which specify how savings goals will be achieved, and finally ensure clear alignment between team actions and business unit objectives
Coach and/or facilitate resources within function to embed Business Partnering, Strategic Category Management, Business Partnering & SRM processes
Oversee Flexible Supplier Relationship Management Team by fostering collaborative relationships with highly strategic suppliers that span across multiple categories within function and International Markets
Manage Functional Risk Management Capability specific to suppliers, working in close coordination with Third Party Risk Management Center of Excellence
Provide strategic oversight of specialized Market Intelligence program to enable category deep supply / category analysis and insights
Remain current with market trends through relationships with Sourcing Managers, suppliers and market experts, and ensure BMS has a process to gain access / familiarity with emerging supplier capabilities
Chief of Staff responsibilities to head of functional group
Work closely with key stakeholders in business units and in corporate functions to coordinate cross-functional strategies and implementation plans
Develop, champion, and ensure implementation of ideas that will optimize BMS total cost of ownership for spend categories, and support an emerging future pipeline of Continuous Improvement deliverables

Minimum Requirements:
B.S./B.A.
Minimum of 10 years of business experience
Minimum of 8-10 years of multi-disciplined procurement experience, or related category domain experience or relevant experience
Minimum of 3 years Pharmaceutical Procurement experience, or working directly with Pharmaceutical Procurement teams or relevant experience
Experience leading and participating on cross-functional and/or global teams
Managerial experience including managing teams of senior professionals and managers and establishing performance expectations
Internal stakeholder management, data/information management, category management, process redesign and continuous improvement expertise, project management and performance measurement skills
Procurement process knowledge, contract management, financial analysis, market analysis, supplier analysis, supplier diversity, supplier management, technology utilization, strategic planning and integrated supply chain experience
Preferred Qualifications:
M.S./M.B.A.
Professional certifications (e.g. CPM, CPIM).
5 years Pharmaceutical Procurement experience
Membership in Professional Associations, e.g. ISM
