These days, pharmacy jobs are going to involve a lot more than just filling prescriptions and talking to doctors. Now days the pharmaceutical industry is reaching into the virtual world to spread it's message to people all over. They are using YouTube as their platform, and so far it seems to be working as planned.

For those of you who don't quite know what YouTube is: it's a social media site which focuses on the hosting of videos. Users are allowed to create channels where they would upload the videos of their choice, so long as they own the content that is being presented in that video. Any copyrighted videos that are uploaded without permission are generally removed as fast as they are posted, though it wasn't until recently that the massive video hosting site started to enforce that policy.

Now the big question you might have is how exactly are pharmaceutical companies using social media websites to their advantage? It's actually pretty simple. When a video is made on a social media website, anyone can view it at any time. This is in contrast to something run on television, which can only be seen at certain times of the day.

You can no doubt tell what type of advertising potential this opens up. It means that a company can run any advertisement they want without any time constraints, and they can even include testimonials. Naturally this is exactly what they are monopolizing on.

There have even been question and answer sessions between patients and doctors, which serve as source of great information for the pharmaceutical industry; for which in the past had relied on television commercials. Now there is a whole new audience out there for them to take advantage of, which is great for the industry, but it may mean a bit more work for you.

You will need to learn the ins and outs of web advertising, and your resume will need to reflect your experience when looking for pharmacist jobs. This is especially true since the industry is about to take yet another turn on the evolutionary road. The pharmaceutical industry is trying to find a way to enable two way video communications on social media websites so that there can be interviews between customers and representatives as well as doctors and patients. For those in pharmacy jobs this is a great chance to get the customer feedback they've always wanted.

Though this means pharmaceutical jobs might require a deeper understanding of the technical side of video production, it does mean that you will be able to participate in something that will help the industry that you desire to be part of. Pharmacist jobs have never been easy, and this is yet another hurdle that you will have to overcome if you want to get into the pharmacy jobs. Will it be worth it? That is totally up to you, but it's a decision that you will need to make fast, seeing as how jobs in the pharmaceutical industry go fast these days! So get your stuff together and remember that you will always need to be ready to learn something new to participate in any industry out there, including this one.
