Being a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative is a very rewarding career. You will find that what the job actually entails is very prestigious and that when you get to the highest levels of the career you become a very important person. Your job will be to travel to different hospitals and doctors' offices and attempt to sell them the latest prescription medications, and convince them that this is the best move for their practice. To do this of course you will need some great people skills, and you will have to be extremely convincing. It's not easy to convince people that they have the wrong medications and that they need to buy yours, but with practice, it can be done.

Being a salesman sounds rather simple, but this is actually a little more complicated than being the average salesman. You will need to go to college and earn a Pharm. D certification, and you'll need to get as much education and certifications that you possibly can because these are the things that employers are going to look for. The other thing that they will look for is a complete resume. If your resume shows employment gaps then you will find that not many employers want to speak with you. If you can, hire a professional resume writer to put a positive spin on your resume so that it doesn't look like you are a complete slacker.

Remember that not everyone who applies for an open position gets the job. In fact, most people who apply for the positions don't get the jobs. When you submit your resume, you need to make it stand out in some way. When I say stand out, I don't mean you should print it on cardboard with stick-up letters. What I'm trying to say is that you need to have something on there that you can do and that others cannot. How do you do this? Once again, you need to get as much experience as you can, and you must learn to do as many things as possible. Eventually you will run across something that others cannot do, and your potential employer will recognize that.

If you do manage to get a job, and that is a big if, you will receive extensive training. This training isn't cheap for the company, and you have to remember that you will be handling a lot of different medications so you will need to be trusted with everything that you are given. There might be a background check, and chances are there will be fifteen to twenty 'getting to know you' sessions, which are more commonly known as interviews. People have actually reported having as many as fifteen interviews before actually landing a job.

There really isn't a much easier job than this, even with its educational requirements. All you need to do is go around to doctors' offices and convince them to buy your product. If you are a people person, then you should be able to do this job with absolutely no problem. So get out there, check into the educational requirements of your state, and then jump right into it because this is your dream job and you need to take advantage of it as soon as possible!
