Pharmacy Tech Jobs

A pharmacy tech manager works under the supervision of registered pharmacists, handling many of the drug product-related tasks that must be performed in the given pharmacy. A pharmacy tech manager receives written prescription or refill requests and verifies that the information is complete and accurate. A pharmacy tech manager maintains proper storage and security conditions for drugs, fills bottles with prescribed medications, and types and affixes labels. A pharmacy tech manager cleans and helps maintain equipment and work areas and sterilizes glassware according to prescribed methods. A pharmacy tech manager uses aseptic techniques to transfer medications from vials to the appropriate number of sterile, disposable syringes. A pharmacy tech manager adds measured drugs or nutrients to intravenous solutions under sterile conditions to prepare intravenous (IV) packs under pharmacist supervision. A pharmacy tech manager monitors robotic machines that dispense medicines into containers. A pharmacy tech manager prepares and processes medical insurance claim forms and records.

A pharmacy tech manager job requires a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy and two years of relevant experience. A pharmacy tech manager should have the ability to accurately perform the calculations required for drug dispensing. A pharmacy tech manager should have knowledge of pharmacy stock management and computerized inventory systems.
Good communication skills, both oral and written, are also required.
