Pharmacy Manager Jobs

A pharmacy manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a regional pharmacy, including the coordination of patient care from the referral process to order delivery. A pharmacy manager also coordinates technician services, including warehouse shipping and receiving, technician scheduling, compounding, staff evaluations, quality assurance, and dispensing. A pharmacy manager ensures that there is sufficient staff to provide excellent and efficient pharmacy services and makes specific assignments as appropriate. A pharmacy manager ensures the proper storage of all medications. A pharmacy manager supervises inventory control of pharmacy stock to an acceptable turnover rate in order to minimize the amount of expired drugs. A pharmacy manager establishes pharmacy policies and procedures concerning drug recalls and the documentation required detailing the disposition of such drugs. A pharmacy manager manages both the capital equipment and operational budgets, ensures that the operation of a given department is within budget guidelines, and provides explanations of any significant variances.

A pharmacy manager position requires a BS degree in pharmacy with five years of pharmacy management experience. A pharmacy manager must possess advanced administrative and management skills. Excellent communication skills are also required.
