Description Summary: Responsible for supervising the activities with the lab area. Ensures a steady production of high quality laboratory data through defining associate expectations and actively monitoring operations. The Laboratory Supervisor will ensure that staff is focused on processing and testing of specimens with a minimization of test turnaround times. Specific areas of responsibility include: effective staffing, associate orientation, quality monitoring, quality reporting, quality improvements, proficiency testing, staff performance evaluation, mentoring associates, consistent application of hospital and departmental policies, meeting accreditation standards and education of laboratory science students. Works in the lab area on an as needed basis. Assumes responsibility for general lab supervision on some weekends and holidays. Requirements: A. Education/Skills · BS Degree in Medical Technology or related field is required. B. Experience · At least four (4) years' experience as a medical technologist under the direction of a CLIA'88 qualified medical director. C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications · Certified as a medical technologist by the Board of Registry for the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent registration.
