Assistant Professor
position in the
Department of Pharmacy Practice
beginning January 1, 2023, or as soon as filled. The primary focus of the position will be to coordinate and innovate the experiential practice and training of student pharmacists in community settings. The successful candidate will contribute to the mission of the Skaggs School of Pharmacy through excellence in education, patient care, scholarship, and service.
The faculty member is expected to devote at least 30% of time to activities associated with the community pharmacy Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) program. Working closely with the Director of Experiential Education, responsibilities include coordinating, managing and supervising the community pharmacy IPPE and APPE rotations year-round. Additional duties include participating in the continuous quality improvement process for sites and preceptors, while developing and maintaining relationships with various affiliates involved with experiential education. Developing APPE and longitudinal IPPE models comprise an important component of this position as well. The successful candidate will also coordinate with state and national pharmacy organizations. The faculty member will contribute at least 50% of time to teaching excellence through didactic and experiential instruction in the Doctor of Pharmacy program. Teaching efforts may include the development and/or coordination of community pharmacy related courses and teaching labs, and other pharmacy practice courses as assigned by Chair/Dean within the expertise of the successful candidate. Experiential instruction will involve students for both IPPEs PPEs. The successful candidate is expected to dedicate at least 20% of time to scholarly and service activities. The faculty member should also contribute to the activities of the School and University as well as contribute to the growth of the profession through service on a local, regional and national level.
Required Qualifications
Hold a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited institution or equivalent degree
Successful completion of a PGY-1 residency or equivalent fellowship -or- a minimum of 3 years of relevant pharmacy experience
Eligible for pharmacy licensure in the state of Montana
Eligible to precept pharmacy students in the state of Montana
Possess excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
Experience in education of pharmacy students or other health profession students
Preferred Qualifications
Possession or eligibility for Board certification in ambulatory care, geriatrics or pharmacotherapy or other credentialing of chronic disease state medication management (e.g., CDE, AE)
Experience with alternative care delivery models (e.g., telepharmacy or telehealth)
Experience with specialty services (e.g., MTM. AMS, chronic disease management services)
Scholarship experience in publishing
Record of obtaining extramural funding
