Summary:
The Associate Director of Cell Therapy Research digital capability management defines the technical delivery strategy and leads a team of internal and external resources to support and deliver cross-functional solutions for Immuno-Oncology and Cell Therapy Thematic Research Center (IO CT TRC) and Cell Therapy Development (CTD). The role will provide technical and domain expertise; will be accountable for delivery of technical solutions and be responsible for analyzing, designing, and implementing simple yet scalable innovative technical solutions to meet cross-functional business demands using a consistent process.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Define the overall strategy and build out the IT delivery operating model to support IO CT TRC and CTD business functions.
Collaborate with IT Business Partners to define strategic roadmaps, develop solution proposals, contribute to project business cases, and estimate budgets for new IT capabilities.
Partner with internal and external IT teams and business stakeholders including infrastructure, engineering, project management, enterprise architecture, cloud, and support teams within the functional domains.
Lead the technical delivery for new IT digital capabilities in IO CT TRC & CTD business application area. Work closely with domain subject matter experts, informatics scientists, implementation partners, and solution vendors to architect, design, develop, and deliver digital scientific solutions and continuous improvements in areas such as scientific workflow automation, data automation, template development, and system integrations, etc.
Ensure solutions are architected in accordance with BMS Enterprise Architecture standards and methodologies and are engineered to be reliable, cost effective, scalable, secure and sustainable throughout the expected lifecycle.
Own vendor, consulting, and contractor relationships; collaborate with third parties to deliver best-in-class solutions. Manage service providers including defining, reviewing, and reporting on service level metrices.
Serve as the information technology subject matter expert for the Immuno-Oncology Cell Therapy domain.
Maintain an understanding of new and emerging technologies, services and industry trends; apply these understandings to inform IO CT TRC and CTD platform technical strategy, solutioning, and support.
Drive the implementation of existing and future strategic platforms, innovative PoC, new technology evaluation, and cloud native technologies to support cutting edge scientific innovations and IT digital capability growth.
Identify gaps in solution workflows and operations where emerging technologies can be applied to deliver competitive advantages and efficiencies.
Direct and matrixed leaderships for a team to provide scientific application delivery services at the Seattle, Warren NJ, and Munich sites.
Some travel is required.
Skills/Knowledge Requirements:
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Systems or a similar field. Masters or other advanced degree is a plus.
8 years working experience, with proven experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industry is required.
Proven working experience with scientific information systems such as ELN, registration, assay management, and inventory systems such as Benchling, Genedata, and Spotfire.
Understanding of industry Research and Development processes; information systems and platform functionalities, such as cell therapy discovery and research and/or large molecule discovery processes, biological assay, registration, scientific data visualization, and scientific workflow integration.
Experience with cellular therapy research or development processes or systems is highly valued.
Ability to design and deliver innovative technological ecosystems and solutions to enable or improve current scientific workflows. Proactive approach to address the needs of IO CT TRC and CTD scientists and engineers.
Demonstrated success delivering complex scientific application systems. Strong understanding and experience of scientific application architecture, design, and delivery. Strong knowledge of solution development life-cycle (SDLC) techniques and industry best practices.
Possesses an innovative mentality, stays appraised of relevant scientific and emerging technology trends such as AI/ML.
Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud technologies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be a team player.
Highly motivated self-starter.
Ability to multitask and operate with agility in a fast-paced research and early development environment.
