The Merck Research Laboratories (MRL) Postdoctoral Research Fellow Program aims to be a best-in-industry program for industrial postdoctoral researchers, designed to provide you with an academic focus in a commercial environment. With the resources, reach, and expertise of a large pharmaceutical company, postdoctoral researchers will be positioned to excel in an institution committed to breakthrough innovation in research and discovery.

As a postdoctoral fellow in Modeling and Informatics group (M&I) at Merck Research Laboratories, you will work with a highly collaborative team of scientists to apply various modeling methods to study macrocycle conformation and molecular interactions. The position is for one year and renewable for up to three years. The candidate will be located at the Merck Kenilworth site in NJ.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Execute and design conformational sampling routines

Collaborate with the NMR group on incorporating NMR constraints to those workflows

Study molecular association for peptide-small molecule systems

Interpret data, present results internally and externally, prepare manuscript(s) for publication

Contribute to a safe and compliant work environment

Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:

A PhD in Computational Chemistry, Chemistry, Physical Chemistry or equivalent, with less than (3) years of postdoctoral experience OR graduating with a PhD by summer of 2019.

Required Experience and Skills:

Relevant research experience in computational chemistry or computational biology

Proficiency in scientific programming, developing code and scientific workflows

History of publication in peer-reviewed journals

Must be an independent and self-motivated scientist

Preferred Experience and Skills:

Experience in conformational sampling for peptides and macrocycles

Experience in implementation of NMR constrains into energy optimization

Experience in docking and molecular dynamics
