First
line manager of clinical pharmacy activities & programs for CHI Iowa
Division owned acute care facilities. Develops,
provides oversight of, and is accountable for programs and services that
optimize CHI national and Iowa Division medication use initiatives and
activities.
Provides
direction on the use and implementation of clinical pharmacy programs as they
apply to medication-related technologies, information systems, safe medication
management practices, cost containment, regulatory oversight and compliance,
and, overall, pharmacy and Iowa Division operational excellence activities.
Supports
& effectively collaborates with the Division Director of Pharmacy, and both
CHI national and Iowa Division pharmacy leaders.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Collaborates and contributes to
CHI national pharmacy & medication use initiatives as a member of the CHI
Pharmacy Leadership Council.With the assistance of the
Director of Pharmacy, implements,
evaluates and optimizes
CHI
national pharmacy & medication use initiatives which are pertinent to the
Iowa Division.
With the assistance of the
Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Committee chairperson,
organizes and delegates all P&T meetings and related activities.Maintains overall
oversight & responsibility of/for MMC Pharmacy Clinical Specialists, and pharmacy
residencies and residents.With the assistance of the
Director of Pharmacy, hires, coordinates training of, and supervises
professional staff in areas of responsibility (includes Iowa Div. Clinical Pharmacy
Specialists).Responsible for scheduling,
goal-setting, evaluation of, and payroll processing for direct reports.
Acts as primary clinical pharmacy
liaison for CHI Iowa Division entities outside of current scope of
responsibilities (example: Mercy Clinic
sites/operations)Maintains a clinical
practice in clinical area of choice and/or within area of expertise.Assists in preparing and managing
budget for assigned areas of responsibility.Coordinates services within area
of responsibility and works with other departments or areas within the pharmacy
to resolve problems.Serves as preceptor for pharmacy residents
and students.Maintains knowledge of and complies
with applicable federal and state pharmacy laws and regulations.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Assists in
organization of MBO (MMC & MWL) Clinical Pharmacy Specialist call schedule.Assists in the selection and
implementation of computer software and automated processes, which assists in
the provision of pharmaceutical care.Provides educational in-service training
to pharmacy staff, hospital staff, and community health professionals and
consumers.Prepares and revises policies and
procedures and implement approved changes and ensures compliance within scope
of responsibilities.Functions as staff pharmacist
when needed.
','!*!MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Pharmacy degree (BS or Pharm.D.)
from an ACPE approved College of Pharmacy.Residency (accredited by ASHP) or
equivalent experience preferred.Licensed, or eligible for
licensure, pharmacist in Iowa.Five years’ experience in
hospital pharmacy preferred.Board certification
preferred.
