Astellas is announcing a Sr. Research Associate, Assay Development
opportunity at their Astellas Institute of Regenerative Medicine (AIRM)
site in Westborough, MA.
The Senior Research Associate (Sr. RA) will support assay development and qualification activities by performing cell culture and wet lab experiments, analyzing data, and drafting protocols, SOPs and reports. The Sr. RA will need to be able to plan experiments and execute protocols and have the ability to summarize results independently. Should the need arise, the Sr. RA needs to be able to troubleshoot experimental protocols and in collaboration with his/her supervisor effectively implement changes to the protocol. This individual will collaborate closely within the team and across functional groups to advance pipeline programs.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Continues to develop technical knowledge with ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems, and continues to learn and perform administrative operations and knowledge of global compendial regulations and guidance.
Contributes to the scientific experiments independently.
Able to plan and execute protocols and have ability to summarize results independently.
Continues to take on more responsibility to provide content for various documents and reports.
Utilizes multiple established techniques in cell culture, cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, and develop expertise for several assays to generate and analyze data in an accurate and reproducible manner.
Contributes to assay development, optimization and pre-qualification including troubleshooting and performing literature searches.
Writes technical reports detailing procedures, outcomes, and observations.
Prepares SOPs and batch records.
Maintains accurate record keeping in laboratory notebooks and worksheet in a timely manner with GDP.
Coordinate within and across functional groups to run the study.
BS with 5 , MS with 2 laboratory experience.
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
Self-reliant, self-motivated, detail-oriented, highly organized
Willingness and ability to learn new skills
Two or more years' experience with aseptic tissue culture technique
Hands-on knowledge of molecular and cell biology analytical methods
Capable of meticulous GDP record keeping
Excellent communication skills
Ability to analyze own data and write concise reports
Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends
Previous experience with pluripotent cells and primary cells, and working knowledge of flow cytometry
