Pharmaceutical Marketing Jobs description
Pharmaceutical marketing involves the advertising, promotion, and sale of pharmaceuticals. Pharmaceutical marketers attempt to identify the category of physicians most likely to prescribe a given drug. Pharmaceutical marketers then decide on the appropriate sales force size needed to sell a particular portfolio of drugs to the targeted group of physicians. The pharmaceutical marketers also target medical students to convince them about the benefits of the medicines.It is estimated that there are approximately 100,000 pharmaceutical sales representatives in the US who, in total, are in contact with 830,000 pharmaceutical prescribers. The basic role of the marketer is to provide marketing and communications support to serve corporate marketing and promotional efforts, and to develop targeted account marketing.
The qualifications for pharmaceutical marketers are as follows:
- Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent education and/or experience and direct responsibility for marketing communications in a professional service organization.
- Knowledge and experience in a pharmaceutical or healthcare environment required.
- Proven copywriting experience and skill, as demonstrated through writing samples.
