Medical Assistant Jobs description
A medical assistant handles basic clinical tasks while working in a private clinic or as an aid to a department head in a large hospital. A medical assistant takes on all secretarial duties, including taking patient histories, keeping records, and dealing with paperwork and insurance forms. A medical assistant ensures that the doctor’s appointment book is kept up to date. A medical assistant has training which qualifies him or her to give certain medications, prepare patients for procedures, give immunizations, and perform tests. A medical assistant carries out duties like drawing blood, giving injections, and checking the height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure of each patient. A medical assistant, at the doctor’s request, arranges for laboratory tests or for a patient’s admission to the hospital. A medical assistant communicates with the appropriate person (whether it’s the doctor, clinical coordinator, team leader, or practice manager) about changes in a patient’s status and the results of diagnostic studies. A medical assistant is sometimes in charge of buying and maintaining medical equipment and furniture for the doctor’s office. A medical assistant maintains supplies and equipment and carries out all the jobs needed to keep the practice running smoothly.A medical assistant job requires a degree from an accredited school of medical assistance and at least six months of experience. A medical assistant should have basic computer knowledge. A medical assistant should also have the ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Excellent communication skills are also required in order to converse in the best way possible with patients.
