Entry Level Chemist Jobs
An entry-level chemist performs a variety of basic procedures in the field of chemistry. An entry-level chemist assists in the routine verification of laboratory standards, solutions, and documentation. An entry-level chemist interacts with project managers and lab managers to discuss projects. An entry-level chemist analyzes data, writes laboratory reports, and performs the set up, calibration, operation, and maintenance of laboratory test equipment. An entry-level chemist carries out tasks relating to proper laboratory documentation and maintenance, the archiving of paperwork, attention to specification limits for any tests performed, and immediate notifications for any out-of-specification results. An entry-level chemist compiles reports/documentation of analytical tests, ensuring that reports are accurate and complete, including documentation of procedures, equipment, and reagents used in analytical testing. An entry-level chemist develops practical laboratory skills and a thorough knowledge of chemistry theories, analytical techniques, and site procedures. An entry-level chemist assists in the execution of protocols and validation studies under the guidance of more experienced analysts.
An entry-level chemist position requires a BS or MS degree in chemistry with at least two to five years of relevant industry or academic experience. An entry-level chemist should have knowledge of modern analytical techniques and instrumentation for the isolation and identification of organic compounds. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are also required.
