Pharmacy Director Jobs

A pharmacy director oversees all pharmacy operations including planning, organizing, controlling, and supervising activities in the pharmacy according to applicable policies, standards of practice, and state and federal laws. A pharmacy director identifies and recommends innovations in the practice and function of the pharmacy. A pharmacy director develops plans to the achieve goals of the pharmacy, implementing and ensuring adherence to the policies and procedures required to operate the pharmacy and to meet licensing, accreditation, and regulatory requirements. A pharmacy director selects, orients, coaches, and evaluates the pharmacy operations management team and maintains an atmosphere that encourages high performance and teamwork in the various areas of responsibility. A pharmacy director establishes and manages the department budget to ensure compliance with organizational expenditure commitments. A pharmacy director ensures that the education and training needs of pharmacy staff are met and that all employees adhere to the necessary safety standards.
A pharmacy director position requires a pharmacy degree with a minimum of five to ten years of experience managing a pharmacy in a hospital setting. A pharmacy director should have excellent interpersonal, leadership, and presentation skills in order to provide direction and guidance. A pharmacy director should have the ability to build consensus and motivate staff across the organization as a member of the executive team. A pharmacy director should have excellent analytical, investigative, and problem solving skills. Excellent computer skills and communication skills are likewise required.
