Pharmaceutical Sales Jobs

A pharmaceutical sales representative is responsible for liaising with doctors, pharmacists, and patient advocacy groups and ensuring that those individuals and groups are aware of the various prescription drugs that the representative’s company makes. Pharmaceutical sales representatives leave samples of new drugs with doctors and must keep careful records concerning the samples they leave. A pharmaceutical sales representative attends regular meetings to get product information. A pharmaceutical sales representative maintains a current and competent level of knowledge of the company’s product line in order to be a reliable source of information to the healthcare professionals in the relevant territory. A pharmaceutical sales representative presents the latest in medical news and treatment programs through one-on-one sales presentations, group discussions, and educational programs. A pharmaceutical sales representative also works with a sales team to develop strategies to approach potential customers and garner sales. A pharmaceutical sales representative keeps abreast of current medical and product knowledge throughout his or her career.
A pharmaceutical sales representative job requires a bachelor’s degree in science. A pharmaceutical sales representative must speak clearly and concisely under pressure, because he or she will only spend a few minutes at each medical site. A pharmaceutical sales representative should have good social skills. Excellent negotiation and communication skills are also required.
